The Purpose and Proclamation of the Church - September 21, 2025

1 Timothy 4:1-7

Paul, having completed a section of the qualifications of those who would be in church leadership, takes a moment to turn his attention back to the basics of the family of faith; the church.  In these verses at the end of chapter 3, he outlines the significance of the church being the manifestation of God’s family, the dwelling place of God’s Spirit  and the proclaimer and protector of God’s Word.  Then he turns focuses to the supremacy of Jesus Christ.  Jesus is God in the flesh, He was vindicated by the Holy Spirit when He was resurrected from the dead, He was seen by angels, is proclaimed across the earth and is the King over all the universe.
