Luke 15
There is great joy in Heaven over one sinner who repents.
Jesus told three parables in Luke 15 to reveal God’s heart for lost sinners and to confront the hypocrisy of the religious leaders. While the Pharisees criticized Him for spending time with sinners, Jesus used stories of a lost sheep, a lost coin, and a lost son to show that heaven rejoices over every sinner who repents. The final parable, about a father and two sons, contrasts the obvious sin of the younger son—who is forgiven and restored—with the cold self-righteousness of the older son, who refuses to celebrate. Through these stories, Jesus shows that God’s joy is found not in rule-keeping, but in repentance and restored relationship.
